Recycling Residents
The aim is to house as many former tenants as possible in the new neighbourhood, ‘recycling residents’, to restore the social cohesion. The recruitment of new residents for the Super Circular Estate is a key part of the project.
The recruitment of future tenants for Super Circular Estate will start this Summer. Former residents of the vacant high-rise buildings are invited back to live in the area. In prosperous times, the high-rise buildings were the epicentre of social cohesion. In the Book of Neighbours, social cohesion is preserved through personal stories of former tenants to illustrate how life in and around the high-rise flats changed overtime.
The first dwellings in the area will be completed in 2020. Approaching residents now, at such an early stage provides the opportunity to involve them in the design of their own future residential environment. They will be actively involved in the design of a social services center, a mobility platform and the surrounding area. Future residents therefore are actively involved in the creation of their own residential environment. By means of storytelling an experience around ‘living in Super Circular Estate’ will be created. Some future tenants will share their personal story why they want to live in the Super Circular Estate, and therefore serve as an ambassador for other residents.
There are a number of different reasons to choose to live in the Super Circular Estate area. For young families for example, sustainability is the future. Super Circular Estate is an affordable place to live with excellent primary schools within walking distance. The stories of the new residents, with respect to their experiences with living in a circular social residence will be compiled in a new Book of Residents. This book will be published at the ending of the project.
