Opening BREM 16, what a party!
BREM 16 is an innovative housing project that’s part of CURANT. In this project 16 duo’s will share an apartment with bathroom and kitchen. Further, the inhabitants have mutual spaces, like a tv area, a washing space and a kitchen to meet each other. The team of CURANT will have a office on the site so they can meet the youngsters regularly.
More than a 100 neighbours, youngsters, youth organisations and project partners came to celebrate with our project team. They even practised their best looks in the photo booth and their artistic skills in the graffiti workshop. An intercultural music band played on the background while everybody enjoyed the typical Belgian Fries.
National newspaper (Gazet Van Antwerpen) interviewed 1 cohousing duo, Emma and Freweyni. Fabio Sgaragli, the UIA-expert from Italy was also present (see picture below).
Curious about the reactions?
Buddy Emma: “When Freweyni puts music on from Eritrea, we dance together in the living room.”
Neighbour Ingrid: “We followed the construction of Brem 16 closely and were curious to see the result. The housing units were a hot topic among the neighbours. Now we finally see what the project does for the refugees.”
The event showed that all participants know how to throw a good party. Let’s hope lots of activities will follow!
