Home Silk Road presents the modular housing residence
The main objective of Home Silk Road is to change the housing paradigm by placing vulnerable groups at the heart of the city while demonstrating how they can bring societal and economical value to their district.
By creating an innovative model of temporary housing through these modules, the project partners aim to allow the residents to be true players in building their home. They benefit from specific support fostering their integration both in their housing and the neighbourhood but also from employment opportunities at the worksite (community restaurant).
These 52 modules with a wooden frame can be arranged in different ways. In Home Silk Road, several units were merged to house various sized families depending on their needs (2, 3 or 4 rooms). The modules could also be individualised to create 40 18m2 studios and collective spaces.
The modules will stay on the site during construction works (3 years) and will later be moved to other locations of the metropolitan area to accommodate vulnerable populations.
