Ghent receives prestigious award for TMaaS project
Ghent received the CIVITAS Bold Measure Award at this year’s Civitas Forum Conference for its Traffic Management as a Service (TMaaS) platform, based on “a daring and innovative approach that has yet to be widely implemented”. The 'Bold Measure’ Award was presented on September 20th in Umeå, Sweden to Sophie Gillaerts, project coordinator of TMaaS and Peter Meirsschaut, City of Ghent in recognition of the bold and innovative approach that positions the city of Ghent as a pioneer in a number of important transport themes.
During this event, four cities were rewarded for their special efforts in the field of forward-looking transport solutions. The other three winners this year were Reggio Emilia (Italy), Szeged (Hungary) and Banja Luka (Bosnia and Hercegovina).
About the Civitas Forum Conference
The CIVITAS Forum Conference takes place every year and the theme this year was ‘Better Mobility for U and Me’ with an emphasis on multi-modal traffic systems. Over a period of three days, hundreds of policymakers, city representatives, academics, and users from all over the world gathered together to discuss pressing issues about mobility. Some of the areas of focus include pioneering, sustainable solutions for cleaner and better transport in Europe.
