Draft programme – 18.03.2020
While the public provision of low income, adequate and affordable housing is still to be pursued, alternative housing models and governance structures are experimented by European cities.
The web conference will look into cities’ experiments to understand how community-led practices, through collaborative schemes, induce financial, social and citizen engagement solutions to housing affordability issues.
Building on the experience of UIA and URBACT cities, the EU urban agenda partnerships, practitioners and experts, this web conference is the first of a series on the role of cities in working to implement this fundamental right.
The online event is designed as an interactive exchange bringing experienced voices, exploring municipal-led initiatives and looking at innovative solutions and trends such as shared ownership, community-land trust, co-housing, cooperative housing and re-municipalisation of housing.
The outcomes of this web conference will contribute directly into the European Urban Agenda Partnership on affordable housing work and will feed the set of actions and recommendations in terms of better knoweldge among cities, also aiming at pushing the agenda on the right to housing EU wide.
