In co-creation between the project’s partners Vito, imec, Digipolis Antwerpen and EnergieID the data platform is nearing completion. At this moment energy consumption data and other metrics like room temperature and presence are collected through smart home gateways and sensors in 9 homes of participants in the Circular South project. Data on deposits for different waste fractions (organic, plastic, residual) are collected from the city’s waste sorting units.

Measurement has started!

Project : CLAIRO - CLear AIR and Climate Adaptation in Ostrava and other cities

Short description
The measuring instruments are now on-site, launching the first key phase of the project. Ostrava’s technical university has installed new-generation measuring technology at a location with high concentrations of atmospheric pollutants – close to a metallurgical plant that is one the biggest polluters in the region. With the new technologies it is now possible to monitor measured concentrations of atmospheric pollutants, mainly benzo(a)pyrene, on-line, without the need for complicated laboratory analysis – and this represents a major step forward compared to standard measurement processes.

In order to improve air quality, Air Heritage project aims to build a framework based on pervasive AQ monitoring, by integrating mobile monitoring stations, fixed monitoring stations and personal mobile devices in a synergic network. All gathered data will be used to produce an innovative AQ Policy Decision Support System. Sharing monitored data in an understandable way through social networking procedures will motivate citizens' participation in the actions, which will ultimately have an impact on air quality levels and on the decision making process of AQ policies.
