Ventspils successfully started retraining activities for ICT industry
Short description
From June 29th to July 20th, Ventspils hosted a Java Scrip React software training, one of the activities of retraining activities in the project “Next Generation Micro Cities of Europe”. The training was organized by Ventspils Business Support Center, a unit of Ventspils High Technology Park, which is one of the ten partners of this project.

About 30 applicants applied for the training, of whom 15 started the training and 13 graduated. One of the trainees was immediately accepted for an internship at the Latvian branch of “Accenture”, and three of the graduates applied for the test prepared by the management of the company “Emergn” in order to obtain an internship place. When interviewing the graduates of the training course, we concluded that this type of training was definitely needed in the future,” says Rita Bergmane, Coordinator of Ventspils Business Support Center Retraining Programme.

On 26 August, a training programme on the "ICT equipment production cycle" was launched. The training included those young and ambitious jobseekers who want to explore the different stages of developing an ICT product, from idea to prototyping, and those who want to understand the production cycle and the processes involved. A total of 10 participants took part in the training, 9 of whom started working at company “Azeron” after the training.

"The project will continue supporting existing and emerging ICT companies in Ventspils by providing them with requalified staff, while also strengthening Ventspils's human resource competitiveness and readiness to engage in the development and implementation of innovative solutions," adds Laura Čodere, the project manager of the “Next Generation Micro Cities of Europe”. The next training is scheduled for spring 2020.
