Student’s Awareness Sessions
School bullying and cyber threats are critical issues that need to be addressed.
Four (4) Awareness Sessions, targeting 4 local high schools were organized by the Municipality of Piraeus under the guidance of the Laboratory of Urban Criminology of Panteion University and with the cooperation of the Hellenic Police and Space Hellas.
More than 680 high school students in Piraeus from the 2nd and 5th Municipal Districts were informed about bullying and cyber threats. Lectures were given by representatives of the organization “The Smile of the Child” and the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police.
The sessions took place in May and June 2021 and aimed to inform, raise awareness and mobilize students and teachers on the issues of school bullying and victimization in the school environment and the internet. At the same time, they aimed to reduce the feeling of insecurity in the school environment and to prevent victimization.
The idea is to offer young people a safe environment for socialization, prosperity and development, in order to empower future citizens with the virtues of unity and collective responsibility.
For this purpose, experts were invited from “The Smile of the Child” and the Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police, who with their detailed presentations analyzed the phenomenon of school bullying and cybercrime.
After the end of the lectures, the students raised their questions and issues on the analyzed subjects and took part in a discussion with the speakers developing a fruitful dialogue.
