Promoting Aveiro Steam City project and its challenges 1st edition
Aveiro Urban Challenges and Aveiro 5G Challenges where presented to the community in October, during Techdays event. We challenged the tech community, specially startups, scaleups and R&D centers to apply to both challenges. Applications available here.
From 4th to 7th November, Web Summit, the annual technology conference, considered the largest tech event in the word, was held in Lisbon. Around 2150 startups participate at Web summit 2019 covering various fields, such as health sector, automotive industry, AI & machine learning, energy, tourism, mobility and sustainable living, at the word’s biggest showcasing stage to their solutions.
At the Web summit Aveiro Steam City team challenged the tech community, the best and bright startups in the world to address our challenges. It was an unparalleled networking opportunity for the team to reach out the main target and dare them to amaze the jury with disruptive solutions and ideas that can lead them to the final prizes.
Aveiro Steam City team had the opportunity to engage with 50 startups, on a one-to-one pitch presentation and on the last day made the final pitch at the Startup Portugal stage.
Also during November, the Aveiro Steam City team attended the Smart City Expo World Congress, at Barcelona, that brought together the global smart city ecosystem, looking for ideas and inspiration, with top speakers delving into topics such as cybersecurity, disruptive mobility, open governments and social inclusion. The Expo was a hive of activity, with thousands of attendees networking, holding meetings and discovering the latest solutions and side events. André Cester Costa present the Aveiro Steam City project at the Smart City Tech Cluster Workshop, with the participation of 40 attendees. This side event was a great opportunity to learn more about collaboration opportunities in different regions throughout Europe, meetup with stakeholders aiming at intra-EU collaboration and get inspiration on how to move forward.
