The Next Generation European micro-cities Ventspils and Valmiera will share their experience, lessons learned, and conclusions on the innovations introduced in urban development.
On October 13, 2021, the closing conference of the unique Project in Latvia and the Baltics, “Europe’s Next Generation Micro Cities”, will occur online. Representatives of local governments, experts in the field of education, representatives of employers and business development organizations, and specialists of ministries and state agencies are invited to participate. Two next-generation European cities Ventspils and Valmiera will share their experience, lessons learned, and conclusions on the innovations introduced in urban development.
The Project is implemented from November 1, 2018, and will end on October 31, 2021. This Project and the Urban Innovation Initiative aim to support innovative urban ideas, experiments, and pilot projects. Many innovative solutions have been implemented in the Ventspils and Valmiera Joint Project to create new jobs in the local economy and develop the skills needed in today’s and tomorrow’s labour market.
The event will present and discuss innovations in modern education, including educational technologies and intergenerational marketing, attracting and growing talent, and the role of career guidance activities in cities. Various innovative job creation and investment approaches will be identified, including developing a co-creation movement and creating an innovation support ecosystem in cities. There will also be an opportunity to learn about other projects implemented in Europe under the Urban Innovation Program.
The European Commission’s Urban Innovative Actions project, “Europe’s Next Generation Micro Cities”, was implemented by ten partners: Ventspils local government of State city council, Valmiera municipality government, Valmiera Development Agency, Ventspils High Technology Park Foundation, Valmiera Vocational school, Ventspils Vocational school, Ventspils University, Vidzeme University, SIA Aspired and SIA IntelliTech.
