Kick-off of the project Passport4Work

All partners of the P4W project
All partners of the P4W project
To officially inform our local and national stakeholders, a kick-off for the project was held on Thursday June 13th. This coincided with a national day on jobs and skills in the Netherlands were initiatives of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and other cities and organisations, like Schiphol Airport were showcased.

The kick-off was held in area of Strijp-S, an area in Eindhoven known for its high concentration technological start-ups.

The event was opened by Yassin Torunoglu, the alderman of the municipality of Eindhoven, who explained the strategic significance of this project for the municipality, but also for the region.
What I’m genuinely inspired by, is that this project is really trying something new. Innovation is necessary to drive development in the labour market.”

One of the speakers was Ton Wilthagen, a professor at the University of Tilburg and leading in the Netherlands on labour market developments. He talked about the challenges of the project and expressed his happiness at the extend at which collaboration both on a local and national level has started.

This project does not stand on its own, it will deliver an important contribution to a development both national and internationally of a golden standard; a passport of individual skills, designed in such a way that it can be used locally, nationally and on a wider scale.”

The event was attended by 85 representatives of both local and national stakeholders and triple helix organisations. Many of them stayed to continue their afternoon immersing themselves in getting up to speed with the regional and national developments and there were interesting discussions on how to collaborate on these initiatives both regionally and nationally.

To get an impression of the kick-off of Passport4Work, please watch this video. If you want more information on what was said during this afternoon, a more extended video is available here (no subtitles, but two speakers are in English-Tim Caulfield and Ton Wilthagen).
