URBACT is the European Territorial Cooperation programme fostering integrated urban development in Europe. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the EU Member & Partner States since 2002, URBACT finances and enables cities to work together to develop new and sustainable solutions to major urban challenges, through networking activities, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building for urban practitioners.
Cities face ever increasing urban challenges linked to demographic change, climate and environmental targets, social inclusion, unemployment and urban poverty to name just a few. URBACT believes that every city has ‘hidden’ good practices that respond to local challenges and achieve results. These practices can be of interest for other European cities who want to learn from peers, adapt and reuse tried and tested projects without reinventing the wheel especially in times of scarcity of resources.
To identify these practices and share them widely, URBACT has launched a Good Practice call from 5 December 2016 until 31 March 2017.
The selected cities will be awarded the title URBACT Good Practice City. The label will provide cities with the recognition and visibility they deserve for the results accomplished. Furthermore, the selected cities will be part of the pioneering group of URBACT Good Practices to be widely promoted at EU and international level. As a second step, they will equally be able to share the Good Practice with other cities within the framework of a Transfer Network (Call to be published in September 2017). This process is described in a nutshell here.
There is no threshold for the number of good practices selected and there are no pre-defined thematic entries either. For more details about the Good Practice call and the application procedure please visit the URBACT website.
*A presentation event of this call will take place on 30 January 2017 from 15.00 to 18.30 in English at the Conference Centre Albert Borschette, 36 rue Froissart, 1040, Brussels. The agenda of the event and the registration form can be accessed from HERE.
